GIA Anticipates Move to New Gem Tower
January 26, 2010
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced plans to relocate its New York laboratory to the International Gem Tower (IGT), a commercial condominium building designed specifically for the international diamond, gem and jewelry trade. The building is managed by Extell Development and is set to open in 2012, barring any delays in construction. Located at 50 West 47th Street, the building will be in the middle of the busy New York City diamond district.
The GIA has promised to buy one floor in the building, approximately 30,000 square feet of space to house its staff and equipment efficiently and be able to continue its mission to serve the wholesale diamonds and jewelry industry.
